More Than a Snack: Community Snacks and Layman Distributing Partner with Life Ring Foundation to Fight Kids Cancer

Layman Distributing Trade Show April 30, 2026

At Life Ring Foundation, we believe that extraordinary impact happens when businesses and communities come together around a shared purpose. That's why we're excited to announce a new partnership with Community Snacks and Layman Distributing that will help advance our Fighting Kids Cancer℠ mission throughout Southwest Virginia.

Through this partnership, a portion of proceeds from Community Snacks products distributed by Layman Distributing will support Life Ring Foundation's efforts to fund additional lifesaving resources for pediatric oncology and hematology patients at Carilion Clinic. Together, we're helping ensure that children facing cancer and blood disorders can receive the care they need close to home, surrounded by the people who love them most.

This partnership represents more than a business relationship. It reflects a shared commitment to using everyday purchases to create meaningful change in the lives of families facing some of life's toughest challenges.

Community Snacks has built its brand around the belief that businesses can be a force for good. Through its "Chipping In & Giving Back®" philosophy, the company donates a portion of its profits to support important causes and strengthen communities. Their partnership with Life Ring Foundation expands that commitment to helping children battling cancer and blood disorders.

The partnership is especially meaningful because it is rooted in personal experience. Community Snacks Vice President of Business Development Lee Whiting is himself a Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma survivor, bringing a deeply personal connection to the mission and a passion for helping others facing difficult medical journeys.

As a longtime supporter of Life Ring Foundation, Layman Distributing recognized an opportunity to bring together two organizations dedicated to making a difference. By leveraging its distribution network and relationships throughout the region, Layman is helping transform everyday snack purchases into tangible support for local families.

"This partnership is a powerful example of what can happen when businesses choose purpose alongside profit," said Life Ring Foundation. "Every bag sold helps create hope for children and families navigating pediatric cancer and blood disorders, while supporting our vision of ensuring access to lifesaving care right here in Southwest Virginia."

The partnership officially kicked off with Community Snacks presenting a $2,000 donation to Life Ring Foundation, marking the beginning of what all three organizations hope will be a long-term collaboration that creates lasting impact for local families.

Every day, families across our region face the unimaginable reality of a pediatric cancer diagnosis. Thanks to partners like Community Snacks and Layman Distributing, more resources can be directed toward supporting these children and strengthening the care available in our community.

Together, we're proving that something as simple as sharing a snack can help fuel hope, fund lifesaving resources, and support children in the fight of their lives.
