Through Thalhimer Gives, Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer Establishes Meaningful Partnership

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA, April 26, 2024 – Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer partnered with The Life Ring Foundation for the first quarter of 2024 through their Thalhimer Gives program, a companywide initiative focused on community involvement and charitable giving. The Life Ring Foundation is an organization dedicated to fighting pediatric cancer, based in Roanoke. For the first time in its six-year history, all seven Thalhimer offices joined together in Q1 to support Life Ring.

Life Ring Foundation is especially significant for Thalhimer as one of its Roanoke associate’s family members is an ambassador for Life Ring and has benefitted from the resources offered through Life Ring at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Tripp Poats, son of Roanoke associate Wyatt Poats, has been battling a relapse of acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) since the fall of last year. Life Ring’s goal to support families during treatments and raise money for a pediatric hematology and oncology treatment center with Carilion Clinic is an initiative that Thalhimer is proud to support companywide.

Through Thalhimer Gives, associates actively engage in the community by donating financially, providing much-needed supplies, and giving generously of their time to local non-profit organizations.

  • Donating financially

    • Thalhimer donated $17,000 to The Life Ring Foundation. Throughout the quarter, Thalhimer’s associates provided $8,487.50 through various associate donations, and the company matched that amount dollar-for-dollar.

      • Chili cook-offs were hosted in Thalhimer’s offices, with associates donating an entry fee for taste-testing and $1,295 raised for Life Ring. Prizes were provided for first and second-place dishes in each office that participated.

      • A companywide March Madness bracket yielded 114 brackets and $1,140 raised through bracket entry fees. Prizes were provided for first and second-place bracket winners.

      • The remainder of the donations are direct donations from associates companywide.

    • Giving generously of their time

      • Thalhimer offices sourced gifts and created care packages for patients and caregivers of Carilion’s pediatric cancer center. 50 care packages were assembled, and associates donated over $2,180 for the items to fill the packages.

      • Thalhimer associates participated in a Cards for Kids quarter-long activity and created over 125 hand-made cards of encouragement for patients and caregivers of Life Ring participants.

“The Life Ring Foundation is thrilled to have Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer as a Community Partner supporting our Fighting Kids Cancer campaign. Thalhimer not only produced creative ways internally to engage with all employees to maximize fundraising potential for the mission, but they agreed collectively, for the first time, to support one charity partner for an entire quarter across all seven Virginia offices! It is truly our honor to receive this support from the Thalhimer Gives campaign, who has proven their passion and partnership to bring the best resources to our community to fight against pediatric cancer and blood disorders to the Roanoke Valley.” Jordan Bousman, Vice President of Philanthropy, The Life Ring Foundation.

“The Life Ring Foundation has special meaning for Thalhimer, with one of its associates directly impacted by pediatric cancer.  It was great to see all our offices jump in to support Life Ring and their great work for families and children dealing with pediatric cancer. Our associates participated in chili cook-off fundraisers and held a March Madness bracket with over 100 participants, with proceeds going to Life Ring.  We prepared care packages and handmade cards as encouragement for the patients at caretaker participating in Life Ring.  Our hope is that we provide something positive for families in a very difficult situation.” Lee Warfield, President & CEO of Thalhimer.
