Darius Rucker
When Kelly & Jessica Woolwine launched the Fighting Kids Cancer campaign in fall of 2022, they knew knocking it out of the park, Elmwood Park to be exact, was key to a successful launch in 2023.
That is what led to Woolwine’s connection with Darius Rucker and his team, who have a similar passion for supporting numerous organizations like The Life Ring Foundation & Fighting Kids Cancer campaign. Darius, a lifelong philanthropist, and South Carolina native, graciously agreed to stop by Roanoke and conduct an outstanding, sold-out concert.
Darius Rucker first achieved multi-Platinum status in the music industry as lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the GRAMMY Award-winning band Hootie & the Blowfish, who have sold more than 25 million albums worldwide. Since releasing his first Country album in 2008, Rucker has earned a whole new legion of fans with four No. 1 albums on the Billboard Country chart. Which makes sense to why the June 15, 2023, concert at Elmwood Park sold out in less than 3 hours!
Funds raised through the Darius Rucker concert will go directly to the Fighting Kids Cancer campaign, to bring additional lifesaving resources to the region for families facing pediatric cancer and blood disorders.
Special thanks to Darius Rucker, Drew Green, Elmwood Park Amphitheatre, Downtown Roanoke Inc., and the incredible community of the Roanoke Valley for purchasing tickets, donating, and supporting our mission to save kids lives in Southwest Virginia.
